I own an iphone and what you want to know is if you are in for the looks or the function or both? If looks, well you got it right! If for function, then ask youself if you need a PDA or something less than a PDA but cool looking. IF PDA, then GET A PDA. If the latter choice, then remember that firmware upgrade is VERY important. With each firmwire upgrade, you get better stability and options, which is good. HOWEVER, many programs that are design for the previous firmwire may not work until they are upgraded along with the firmwire. Right now, that's the biggest problem. Also, you may need to know a bit about Linus/Unix system, since Mac OS is based on that, unlike Windows. If you know DOS, you are half done.
If you can wait, I'd say wait b/c I know Apple is coming out with the 3G version of iPhone, which probably is more suitable for you guys in the east.
